Some Of Our Favorite Places to Get Type Inspiration

Today we are sharing some of our favorite places to get type inspiration (and some of our favorite type foundries too 😉) There are SO many places we get inspiration, but these are some websites that we find ourselves coming back to again and again.

YOU WORK FOR THEM.

Despite not having “type” or “font” in their name, You Work For Them is one of the best resources we’ve found for discovering new fonts. They are a company run solely by designers and have clients like: Apple, Starbucks, The NY Times, Whole Foods, and so much more. They provide a ton of affordable fonts, graphics, & stock photos and videos so definitely check this website out if you haven’t already!

AWWWARDS.

Awwwards is technically a website based around web design, but we find that looking at different websites inspires us so much. The type used, the layout, etc. They announce a winner for ‘Site of The Day’, every day and award based on design, creativity and innovation. Sometimes when we’re bored we just scroll through the past winners page and sit in awe of the amount of talent and creativity that went into each site. Extremely inspiring, highly recommend this one!

TYPEWOLF.

Typewolf is another great website for sourcing fonts and finding inspiration through browsing through their curated type ‘lookbooks’. The website was created by a fellow designer and focuses on showcasing how fonts perform on actual websites – so it’s a great way to find a font perfect for your next project. It also has lots of helpful blog posts and resources!

WHATFONT.

A bit of a different resource but we find ourselves using WhatFont so often that we had to include it. It’s a Chrome plugin that makes it extremely easy to identify a font used on a website – simply hover over the font you want to inspect and there ya go! Amazing right?

PINTEREST.

This one may seem kind of obvious, but Pinterest is truly one of the most best resources out there. For fashion, interior design, recipes, & of course: design and type. If you haven’t explored Pinterest before, what are you doing? Go check it out!
